Twin Examples of Corruption

Society is in serious trouble. Trust in most institutions has been shattered, and corruption is rampant. Without trust in the Rule of Law there is chaos, and yet Law has been subjugated to the whim of the powerful. This is a bi-partisan disease. Let's look at some institutions:

Medicine: How does up to 30% waste sound to you in medical care? Do you really believe it is that expensive? I calculated our health insurance cost for our 4th child, and it would have been cheaper to pay cash for the delivery and cancel the insurance - does this make sense to you? Why do I feel lied to here?

Banking: MF Global? Peregrine Financial? Bank of America? JP Morgan Chase? The list of violators is nearly endless. How many have gone to jail? Do you trust anyone in the financial industry? Shouldn't the fine be larger than the ill-gotten gains in cases of fraud or where laws have been broken? For some serious craziness, research Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS), Credit Default Swaps (CDS), and just who has been bailed out by the (private) Federal (no) Reserve.

Housing: FIVE YEARS of fraudulent sales data from the National Association of Realtors (disclosure - I did not renew my membership in January in part due to finding this out, after about 15 years as a Realtor). Who was fired for this? Who went to jail? Where is your trust at here?

Schools: why do schools lie to parents? Click here for more. Do you trust them now? Do you think public schools are doing a good job?

I could go on, but let us focus on the GOP and DEM "Conventions", or should I say "made-for-tv-reality-shows":

Republican Convention: I will refrain from a lengthy list of what went wrong here (that is coming) but at this time I will look at one thing - namely, "they ayes have it" playing on the teleprompter when they clearly didn't, as shown in this video (go to the 2 minute mark):

Democratic Convention: the Democrats removed God and the acknowledgement of Jerusalem as the Capitol of Israel from their platform. In a panic, they forced it back into this important document, over the clear objections of their delegates:

Does it appear either of these parties is controlled by their own Delegates, elected at the state level? I think not. In both cases, power - the power to control and guide each respective party - has been centralized inside the "Beltway" and is wielded by an array of lawyers and lobbyists, consultants and campaign officials. Those in each party are expected to follow orders, not dictate positions.

Nobody believes any of these liars any more. We don't believe the staged show. You must prove your worth and earn our trust - because right now you have no worth and we surely don't trust you. Very few of you are worthy of respect, or to be called "Honorable". Somewhere along the way, you lost your moral compass.

Tell me why it was necessary to spend $50 million on security for each of these conventions (BOTH PARTIES). What are you afraid of?
Tell me why it is right to take money from us and pay off your friends (BOTH PARTIES). Can you say TARP? If you voted for this, you should resign in shame.
Tell me why it is acceptable to violate the Constitution, our highest law (BOTH PARTIES). How about some Patriot Act, with perhaps a side dish of NDAA for flavor? If you support these "laws", you should resign in shame.

The Republican Party ripped control away from the nearly 2300 Delegates and passed it up to the 168 members of the Republican National Committee. The Democratic Party shoved God and Jerusalem down the throats of their Delegates (as a Republican I support God and Israel's right to name it's own capitol, just so there's no confusion about this, but I also support the right of the Delegates of each party to set their own party standards). There should be clear differences between the two parties. Sadly, that is not presently the case. Both parties do not represent their membership, based on these actions. Both parties are worthy of disgust. Both parties are - and should be - very afraid.

Let's pray it is not too late. The beginning of the restoration of trust starts with following the Rules by each party. It spreads to following the Law, and prosecuting those who violate it, regardless of party or station, wealth or influence. Corruption must be rooted out, exposed, and punished. Only then will the future shift from something people fear to something they anticipate with hope.

The people are waking up, and they're not happy.
